The Serie A transfer window dates for 2026/2027 cover two windows: the summer 2026 session from 29 June to 1 September and the winter 2027 session from 2 January to 1 February (both closing at 8pm). Outside these dates clubs cannot register new players, except for free agents.

Summer 2026 session
The summer window is the longest and the busiest: it starts on 29 June 2026 — an earlier opening than the usual 1 July — and closes on 1 September at 8pm. It's the period when clubs build their squad for the new season, between permanent signings, loans and sales. Winter 2027 session
The winter window (the "repair market") opens on 2 January 2027 and closes on 1 February 2027 at 8pm. It's shorter and mainly serves to fine-tune the squad: fewer blockbuster moves, more targeted deals to cover injuries or struggling departments.
How transfer windows work
A "window" is the period during which a club can register a player's transfer with the League. During a window the following are possible:
- permanent transfer — the player's registration changes hands for good;
- loan — straight, or with an option/obligation to buy;
- sale — the club lets one of its own players leave;
- signing a free agent — a player without a contract.
Every deal must be filed before the closing time: after 8pm on the deadline day, the market is officially closed. The final day, "deadline day", is when the most frantic negotiations pile up.
What happens outside the windows
When the market is closed, clubs cannot buy players registered with other teams. Signing free agents (players without a contract) remains possible: under certain conditions they can be registered even after the window has closed, because it's not a transfer between two clubs.
